Karen Hartwig March 4, 1963 - March 18, 2011
The Karen Hartwig Foundation is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit corporation organized and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes related to the prevention of cruelty to animals. The foundation is named after a dear friend of the original corporate directors who passed away unexpectedly at the young age of 48. Karen Hartwig was an avid animal lover, had adopted several rescue animals, and was involved in animal rescue as an individual community member. We miss her every day and just hope to make her proud by undertaking this effort in her name.
Sometimes in life, you're lucky enough to cross paths with someone that changes your life. And sometimes in life, that person is taken away suddenly and without warning. So you have two choices- allow yourself to get mired into the unfairness of it all, or suck it up and do something that honors the memory and spirit of the person. We decided on the latter because that is what she would have wanted. Although Karen Hartwig stood for a lot of things, we've decided to honor her life by supporting a cause near and dear to her heart- dogs and cats in need. She had rescue animals herself and was a support of animal rescue causes. We know that we have the full support of Karen once our friend on earth and now our Guardian Angel, as we embark upon this journey to leave the world a better place.
Because fur is family!
